What’s the grand difference between the inevitable democrat and GOP candidates? By inevitable, I mean Obama, believe it or not. But really, what major differences are there? Okay, you mean besides the healthcare mandates that Obama wants to impose, his plan to surrender in Iraq, his dream of increasing taxes on the rich (in other words, he wants to slow investments, thus slowing economic growth), and his need to spend, spend, spend to keep all these campaign promises? Well, there is the likelihood of judicial appointments.
Talk about huge. As the court now sits, it’s a 4-4 split with Kennedy going either way. If Obama is elected and is able to appoint two judges to the Supreme Court, you can guarantee to have your personal liberties retarded for the next thirty years. To me this is the biggest and most important single issue for this presidential election. I probably wouldn’t get along with McCain very well; he strikes me as kind of an ass. I will vote for him, though, and I’d much rather have his judicial appointments than anyone Obama would nominate.
In case you have zero observation skills, there is a basic difference between the left and right. Those on the right tend to be more optimistic and individualistic. Don’t interfere with them and they’ll be just fine. The lefties, conversely, tend to be pessimistic and seek a “group think” attitude. They make appeals for the general welfare; instead of taking care of themselves, they’d rather have a superior (a.k.a. government) entity dictate to them. Maybe this is because they’re afraid to be responsible for themselves…I don’t know, but it would explain why they want the same type of controls on you and me. If they can’t be responsible, then, obviously, neither can you. Tit for tat, baby. This basic difference in ideologies is wholly evident in the proposals of Obama and McCain. For instance, Obama, who has barely gone into any detail of what he’d actually do as president, has promised more, more, and still more to the voting masses. Every time he promises more, he is also promising to raise our taxes. McCain, on the other hand, has actually promised to lower taxes. I’d really be pleased if he promises to cut spending also (and he may have but I’m not aware of it).
Obama also wants to mandate health insurance on every American. Ignorantly, some people think this is brilliant. What dumb-asses! Think about it: you are perfectly healthy and seldom require medical services and so you have a policy that fits your needs and costs less than those people who are chronically ill. When Obama initiates his health care plan, you will be forced to purchase a more expensive and more comprehensive plan whether you require the extra coverage or not. Do you benefit from this? No, of course not. Not only are your individual liberties being trampled under the foot of socialism, but more specifically, the extra money that you're paying is really being re-distributed. Why? Because insurance companies will no longer have the right to discriminate their clients. They will be forced, by law, to take on everyone, even those who would bankrupt the company. Your increased rates will be paying for someone else…whether you want to or not and that, my friends, does not sync with any definition of freedom.
Look at the economic side: have you ever known government interference to improve the quality or efficiency of anything? I’ll agree that sometimes government regulation has positive effects. If there were no oversight, then some industries would take advantage of anyone or anything to turn a buck. With Obama’s insurance plan, where is the good being done? So some fat chick can afford to get counseling because she can stop shoveling fast-food down her throat? What if you don’t want or can’t afford the bigger, more expensive insurance plan (Hillary actually did very well to illustrate this point in a debate)? Too damn bad. He’ll garnish you paycheck or take your tax refund. I dare you to call this anything but socialism. Economically, the effects will be horrendous. There will be no competition and 100% demand so the insurance companies will be able to charge whatever they want. But then again, they’ll need to because there will be clients (who can’t be turned away) who soak up every penny possible from the insurance companies in search of any and all cures…no matter the cost. So, the insurance companies will jack up their rates even more. Meanwhile, your policy, which used to cost a couple hundred a month, is now the largest monthly bill in your name. Really, how much would it take for your family insurance plan to cost more than your mortgage? Probably not much and you can bet your last dime that your rates will skyrocket if Obama gets his way.
Now, what’s the difference between Obama’s plan and McCain’s plan? Simple: McCain doesn’t have one. He believes in the free market. Yeah, I know. It’s not as flashy and definitely not the political fashion to go without a health care plan; but, hell, conservatives are less flamboyant by nature.
What about Iraq? Whether or not you believe we went in for the right reason, the fact remains that we are there now. Obama has promised to pull our troops out immediately. McCain has stated that he will complete the mission. What is the mission? Well, other than removing the threat of Saddam (check) and helping to establish democracy (check), the last remaining task is to help train and launch the Iraqi military and police forces while providing security for the Iraqis to assume physical and political control. As it now stands, U.S. forces mostly serve in an assistance role to Iraqi forces and the Iraqi Parliament continues to pass legislation and establish itself as a sovereign government. Al Qaeda in Iraq is nearly exterminated, Iranian interference has largely stopped, and the gross amount of violence within the entire Iraqi nation is less than the American city of Chicago (Obama hometown). Why on earth would we leave now? Currently, fewer soldier are dying in Iraq than there were peace-time training deaths during the Clinton years. Don’t try to peddle the “soldiers are dying for no reason” bullshit. I was in Iraq, and yes, soldiers died, but there are good things happening and their deaths are not in vain. If we were to leave before the job is completed and Iraq is able to stand on its own two feet, the entire region would likely erupt into chaos and only then these soldiers’ lives would be in vain. Obama’s promise to immediately leave Iraq is as ignorant as the day is long. I hope that he is only attempting to appeal to the ultra-leftists; otherwise, he is showing how unintelligent he really is and has no business in the White House.
Other than his socialist health-care plan and his promise to pull out of Iraq, what has he said? It’s all fluff and feel-good with no substance. Stevie Wonder sings stupid songs, people chant (like so many zombies) “yes we can”…yes we can what? Yes we can…get a job? Yes we can…think for ourselves? Yes we can…quit acting like victims? Yes we can…fight for individual freedoms? Yes we can…be proud of our nation? Yes we can…be fiscally responsible? Yes we can…what?
What if he chooses Hillary as a running mate? What about the comments and attitude so ignorantly displayed by his wife Michelle? Think.

Good points. But there are a few things that need to be clarified:
I could be mistaken, but the only people that Obama is "requiring" to have health insurance is children.
And, even if he were requiring everyone to have health insurance, it wouldn't drive up the cost. If everyone in America had it, it would actually decrease the amount an individual pays. As it is right now, we're not only paying for outselves, we're paying for the other guy with all the health problems...
I'm not saying that this is a good plan. Really the best insurance would be Americans taking some measures in preventative medicine to avoid having to pay for a health crisis that most likely could have been avoided had they altered their lifestyle.
I hope you keep this blog going. Very though-provoking stuff! Helps me work on the left (is that right? left side for reason? right side for creativity?) side of my brain.
