Today’s political climate – which is to say the social climate – is really taking on a change that I am relieved to finally see: Conservatives are finally speaking their peace. Conservatives have listened to lefties spout absolute nonsense for so long in the media, from friends, neighbors, mush-minded student groups, et cetera and have taken it all in stride while recognizing it for what it really is. Now that Obama has presided over the worst administrative agenda in the history of the nation based on the nonsense that has been so long spouted by the left, they are finally at the point of action. More importantly, perhaps, Conservatives are losing their reticence in speaking their own beliefs.
I think that Conservatives, by nature, abide by the “live and let live” code. Now that they aren’t being allowed the liberty to “live”, Conservatives have stopped worrying whether or not they are offending their liberal friends, neighbors, and associates – essentially, they are setting aside the “let live” part of that code that has been violated by the left for so long. And it’s about time. The voice of the Tea Party is the most obvious example of this. It’s satisfying for me to see how scared the left has become of this Conservative voice now that it has been raised to an audible level. They’re scared because, now that the voice of the Conservative is heard, they realize just how many voices belong to the other side of the battle line. The silent majority ain’t so silent any more.
Just the other day, my wife posted her frustration with CCC’s blatant bias on Facebook. She was nervous about the reaction her friends, a surprising number of whom are liberals from her childhood home in Massachusetts, would have. She was surprised at how many people “liked” her post. She wasn’t so surprised when one of her lib friends posted a comment that personally attacked her. Yes, it’s sad that a friend would be so insulting; but, it was enough to free her of the “let live” half of the code. It was after reading the friend’s comment that she vowed to never again hesitate to voice her own beliefs for fear of offending the other side. Why should she, after all, there’s never been any hesitation on their side? The key difference in the left’s lack of deference and Conservatives’ is that Conservatives address issues with objectivity and solutions while the left has and continues to levy personal attacks that somehow justify their ideology (in their eyes, at least). Again, for an obvious example of this, just look at the Left’s reactions to anything the Tea Party does or says versus the content of what the Tea Party does and says.
It must be doubly infuriating for Liberals to know (instinctively, if not cognitively) that they are wrong substantively and morally.
